River’s Lessons:

Stop and smell. Really, really smell. Stick your nose up in the air, like you are going to howl and breathe deep.

If you see some water, no matter how cold, just jump in.

Chase the geese just to see them fly.

Stretch every chance you get.

Love, snuggle, play, swim, love, snuggle, play, swim and love.

For every Golden I have ever had, there has always been a first. River was my first Utility dog. What a wonderful experience. I will never forget it. She was loved much and will truly be missed. Till we meet again.

Thanks Renee.

No matter how many Golden Retrievers I own, they all have there own  distinct personalities………….as for Solo, she was truly my soul mate.  Renee

Born from a litter of ‘one’ , hence the name Solo, and hand raised by me,  she crawled a little deeper into my heart. I truly believe that I was her reason  for living.  She had little interest in other people or dogs and seemed to  keep a watchful eye on me her whole life.  She formed her own bond with  me from the day she was born.   There was the ‘silly Solo’, playfully  grabbing at my pant legs after completing our performance in obedience,  running in circles was her forte in life, she could run in circles faster then any  dog I have ever seen, even winging her ball on a rope in circles as she ran  or running in circles inside her crate.   She was content to let the other dogs  be the leader of the pack and only cared for me and about where I was.

It is never easy to say Good Bye to any of my Golden’s, but  for Solo, my last granddaughter of my original Golden, Abbey, saying Good Bye was  truly a heart wrenching decision.

Sweet Dreams my Silly Solo

AFTCh MHR Wynwoods Jokers Are Wild, MNH, MH, CDX, WCX
4-13-95 to 6-16-08

This peaceful departure was the last gift I could give you, when you gave me so many over your 13 years – Obedience High in Trials, Hunt Tests, Master National, Amateur Field Trial Champion, and all with attitude, grace, and dignity. You taught me so much and, although we love you all, some are just “more special” than others, and you were my “more special ” boy. Thank you, Renee, for Joker.

Loved and greatly missed by Darcy

Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven
is a place called
Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially
close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends
so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.  The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together….

WHAT IS IT ABOUT A DOG?
So what is it about dogs? What is it that makes us poor humans love them beyond words even when they chew the drapes and wet the carpets and get old and smelly? What is it that makes us cry real tears when something terrible happens to them?
I could say it’s because a dog will love you when everybody leaves you, or that a dog will listen when everybody else tells you to shut up, or that a dog will be grateful for your kindness when every body accuses you of ulterior motives. Or it could be that some dogs are so full of free affection that you can’t help but love them back and love is something fine and rare.  It could be any or all of those things.

Sometimes life is very good and gives us a dog we can care about more than any other and more even than we care about some people. And since that eventually happens to most of us, you  probably already know what’s so special about dogs.  All it takes is a dog with the time to teach you.
